Media Studies

Media studies has a fully equipped media facility, which includes a suite of PC computers for print production work, alongside Apple Mac computers and laptops for audio and video editing.

Taking as its focus the mass media of cinema, television, radio, newspapers, advertising, and new media technologies, GCSE Media Studies is an exciting and challenging subject which encourages students to critically engage with and evaluate a broad range of media products.

The conceptual framework underpinning the course links directly to that underlying OCR's Advanced Subsidiary GCE and Advanced GCE Level Media Studies courses, therefore the GCSE course provides excellent preparation for students wishing to progress on to the study of the subject in the sixth form.

Media offers students many out of hours learning opportunities across many areas of interest including competitions and film production, as well as support for students in completing coursework.

Downloads to help with classwork, extended work or coursework, can be found on Frog.

Mr S Butcher is Head of Media Studies. Other members of the team are Mr D Rollins, Mr N House, Mr D Brown and Mr R Cooksey.
