Support

“In Year 12, I struggled with the transition from GCSE to A Level, but with the support of the Sixth Form team, I was able to turn my grades around and improve my self confidence. I was placed in a supportive tutor group with my peers that helped push me to achieve my academic goals.”
– Dena, Year 13

At Greenshaw Sixth Form we pride ourselves on the quality of support and guidance that we offer.

We have an experienced and effective Sixth Form leadership who are supported in their work by a team of tutors, administrative and learning support staff. The aim of this team is to ensure that students are well supported throughout their time at Greenshaw Sixth Form, given advice and guidance where it is needed and provided with all the information they need to make informed decisions about their future.

This supportive environment also extends to individual subjects. The quality of relationships between staff and students has always been a strength of the school and sixth formers past and present will attest to the positive impact this has upon their learning. Students in the Sixth Form recognise the value of learning in an environment that feels secure and welcoming. We therefore encourage each student to play their part in sustaining a culture based on tolerance and mutual respect.

Year 12 tutor representative

As a Year 12 tutor representative, students are representing their form group and liaising between them and the Sixth Form leadership team to raise suggestions for enhancing their Sixth Form experience. Representatives take responsibility for creating a weekly current affairs presentation delivered to all Year 12 students and are also on hand to support and represent Year 12 and the wider Sixth Form at school and local events.

“In the Sixth Form, students’ achievement is outstanding because of the exemplary care, guidance and support they receive.“
