Catch up funding
Year 7 Catch up funding
Year 7 catch up funding is additional funding provided to the school to support students in Year 7 to make progress where they have not achieved level 4 in the KS2 reading test and/or level 4 in mathematics.
National testing at the end of Key Stage 2 has changed since the mechanism of catch up funding was established. Now KS2 SATs are assessed with a standardised score, rather than a defined level of attainment. This means that showing whether a student has ‘caught up’ during their first year of secondary education is complex.
Covid catch-up funding
In June 2020 the government announced funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (Covid-19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been most affected.
