Discovering Roman remains

Latin students discover Roman remains at Lullingstone.

GCSE Latin students visited Lullingstone Roman Villa to discover the history of this wonderful example of Roman architecture and culture in Britannia. Students explored a range of domestic are facts including fine jewelry, skeletons and Roman games.

As the villa changed over time, so did the spiritual and religious aspects; there was evidence of a sacred water nymph cult and the symbol of the Chi Rho – an early sign of Christianity. The trip also helped students learn a range of Latin vocabulary and become more familiar with the culture of the language they study.
