Year 11 students complete Bronze expedition

Students enjoyed a hike in the North Downs on Saturday.

After a hiatus of 18 months due to Covid, we were delighted to be able to offer our Year 11 students the opportunity to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. The students have now completed the Expedition section, which comprised an activity day in school with a focus on team building and leadership skills, and a day's hiking.

Forty students, accompanied by staff, travelled by train to Boxhill and Westhumble on Saturday 25th September and in small groups, the students completed their hike around Ranmore Common. It was a perfect day for walking, and despite taking many ‘scenic detours’, the students found their way to the checkpoints and back to the station.

Well done to everybody and a big thank you to all the staff that gave up their free time to support the students. It is very much appreciated. The students will work on completing the other sections of the award and I look forward to presenting them with their Duke of Edinburgh certificate and badge in the near future.
