Greenshaw Students Share Views at GLT Meeting

Two of our Year 10 students represented Greenshaw High School at the Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT) School Council Meeting.

Two Year 10 students, Liyah and Josephine, did a fantastic job representing Greenshaw High School at today’s Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT) School Council Meeting. They joined students from other GLT schools to talk about what is going well and what could be even better across the Trust.

The focus of the meeting was on the main priorities for 2025–26, and the students worked in small break out rooms to share ideas, chat about their own experiences, and give honest feedback.

One topic was attendance, why students might miss school, and how schools can help improve it. Some students mentioned reasons like feeling unwell, struggling with mental health, or things happening at home.

Liyah and Josephine proudly shared that they both have 100% attendance, and said one of the main reasons they enjoy coming to school every day is because of the extra-curricular activities on offer.

Students also spoke about their goals for the future, including Post-16 options like A Levels, college courses, apprenticeships, and careers.

Liyah and Josephine were confident talking about the careers support they get at Greenshaw, and said they are looking forward to their work experience placements this year. They felt the school is helping them think seriously about what they want to do next.

Finally, students were asked whether they feel a sense of belonging at school. Liyah and Josephine said they definitely do – and described Greenshaw High School using three powerful words, heard, supported and involved. These words show how important it is to feel included and listened to at school.

The School Council meeting was a great chance for students to have their voices heard and help shape the future of the Trust.
