Year 7 gingerbread house winners

Over 50 students met up and, in groups, decorated and constructed gingerbread houses this week.
Thank you to all who attended last night’s Performing Arts Showcase. We had an audience of over 200 guests who enjoyed singing, reading, drama, music and dance from across our different year groups. I understand that it was an amazing night and the performances were brilliant – thank you to everyone who came along, and thank you to all of our amazing students.
I was not able to be there as I had my own daughter’s end of term dance show at her school. So I am very sorry to have missed it, but thank all of the student, staff and parents who made it such a great evening.
12 Day Attendance Challenge
The first two days of the 12 Day Attendance Challenge have started well. Students from each tutor group in Years 7–11 are being randomly chosen in a daily draw. The winner will get to choose a mystery prize from the tutor group Christmas stocking. We will continue this through the last two weeks of term, with prizes increasing in value as we get closer to the end of term.
Keep making sure that your child is in school until the end of term, as each day they are in, they can win. As someone once said, “You’ve got to be in it to win it!”
Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 12th December
We will be allowing students in all years, and staff, to wear a Christmas jumper to school next Friday. This is not compulsory, and there will be no donation required, but it is an optional activity should families already have a festive-themed jumper.
Any student wishing to do so in lower school should substitute their Greenshaw sweatshirt for a Christmas jumper. If they have PE on Friday 12th December, then student may wear a jumper over their Greenshaw polo shirt… but obviously remove it for physical exercise!
World of Work Day at Amazon with The King’s Trust
A group of Year 10 and Year 11 students experienced an unforgettable World of Work Day at Amazon, supporting their Personal Development qualification. The visit offered an opportunity to step inside Amazon’s UK Headquarters and gain first-hand insight into one of the world’s leading technology and innovation companies.
The day began with a guided tour of the headquarters, where students learnt about Amazon’s dynamic workplace culture and the core principles that drive the company’s success. From customer obsession to a commitment to innovation, the group gained a clearer understanding of what it means to work for a global brand at the forefront of digital transformation.
Students took part in a series of engaging workshops covering a wide range of sectors within Amazon’s ever-expanding business. From exploring the creative world of Amazon Music, the role of artificial intelligence, to understanding how products are marketed and sold. Each session offered the opportunity for lots of student questions and activities that encouraged students to be curious and broaden their career aspirations.
Izzy, a Year 10 student, said she had a great day and would go again! She said she had learnt things she never would have thought about, for example, always saying yes to challenges and opportunities even though it may be easier to say no to them.

Gingerbread house craft workshop
A huge thank you to our Sixth Form social action group and the staff of Year 7, especially form tutors and our amazing Deputy Head of Year 7, Miss McCormick for making the evening happen. On Monday of this week, over 50 students met up and in groups decorated and constructed gingerbread houses. With music playing and hot chocolate served by our sixth formers, our Year 7 student had a creative and friendly afternoon. Congratulations to our winners: Audrey, Keira, Bonnie, Rosie and Amelia.
