Fabulous dance work in our first week back

Yesterday afternoon I had the privilege of watching our Year 11 dance students choreograph and direct younger students.

It was an absolute pleasure to see our older students use their leadership expertise so adeptly, and in turn how our other students responded with such skill. In the evening, there was an ‘informal sharing’ of these pieces and thank you to those families who supported our super talented young people.

Celebrating student success

We are delighted to announce the results of this year’s UKMT Intermediate Mathematics Challenge. Students from Years 9, 10 and 11 represented the school with enthusiasm, determination, and excellent mathematical thinking.

We are especially proud to offer special congratulations to the following students, whose outstanding performances have earned them invitations to the next round of the UKMT competitions, placing them among the top mathematicians nationally:

  • Year 9: Seongju, Ron, Karan, Nathan, Manasri
  • Year 10: Huvin, Josiah, Pooja
  • Year 11: Dhivyan, Ralph, Nickish, Aarav, Ojen, Inana, Saadit

These results reflect the hard work of our students and the strength of mathematical teaching and enrichment across the school. We are proud of everyone involved and wish our invited students the very best in the next stage of the competition.

Extra-curricular clubs

We have worked really hard over the last few years at offering more and more additional clubs and opportunities for our students. As of today, we have 56 clubs up and running, and 46 different members of staff who run these… and huge thanks to these colleagues for offering them.

We are blessed to have so many ambitious students, and they come to us with further ideas about things they would like to do. So I am delighted that from next week, starting on Tuesday 4rd March (15:15-16:15) the Debating Club has reopened its doors. I received a letter from a student in Year 7 asking for this group, and our school councils had requested it. I extend a huge thank you to Miss Sharpe in the English department, who has set this up and responded to student voice and interest.

INSET Day, Monday 9th March

All of our school closures are shared in advance, but as a busy family member myself, I know how easy it can be for these dates to creep up on us. A quick reminder – school will be closed for all students on Monday 9th March. School will be open as usual on Tuesday 10th March.

Students of the week

Well done to each of the students below for being nominated this week. I look forward to hearing about each of their achievements and the contributions that they have made to the school.

For our oldest students (particularly in Years 11 and 13), today is the final day of their mock exams. While I always wish all of our students and families a good weekend each Friday, I would like to extend a particularly strong invitation to our GCSE and A Level students. They have focused superbly over the last fortnight and are most definitely owed a restful weekend.
