This was a moment when seeing all of our community together, being so respectful and behaving impeccably reminded me just how strong our students' sense of respect is for one another, and the whole school. Times like this allow me to reflect on how fortunate we are at our school.

Second meet the tutor evening for Year 7

I hear that last night’s meet the tutor evening for parents and carers of our youngest students went very well last night. Thanks to so many of you that spent time meeting your child’s form tutor and a special thank you to Mrs Weale (Assistant Headteacher) who welcomed you.

I could not be there last night as I was attending a different school… to understand how GCSEs work, with my own daughter who is starting Year 10. Apologies, but I hope I have met many of you at the start of term, or will see you at the school gates before and after school.

Empowering female talent: Greenshaw’s first Girls' UKMT Challenge

This week marked an important milestone for our maths department. For the very first time, an all- female cohort sat papers as part of the prestigious UKMT Maths Competition for Girls.

This represents an exciting step forward in our Girls' Progression Programme, an initiative dedicated to nurturing female mathematical talent, building confidence, and encouraging our young women to come forward and shine bright. Seeing our students step into the spotlight to tackle these complex national challenges is truly inspiring.

We are immensely proud of each participant who took part. Stepping up to represent Greenshaw with curiosity and determination is an achievement in itself, and we congratulate them all on their fantastic effort.

Year 13 biologists gather data at Box Hill

Our Year 13 biologists headed to Box Hill this week to complete their practical sampling activity for their A Level Biology studies. The environment offers rich chalk grassland and woodland habitats, making it ideal for ecological sampling and data analysis. 

It was a great experience for the students to get out of the classroom and into the field, discovering the different plants and animals in Burford Meadow and near the River Mole at the foot of Box Hill. They also developed their teamwork and communication skills, which will be important in our students’ next steps into STEM careers, alongside their subject knowledge.

INSET Day, Thursday 2nd October

I am sure most families will be aware of this, but the school will be closed to students next Friday. I know this can be challenging for families, especially for students in our youngest years, but we have no other INSET days between now and Christmas.

Curriculum, assessment and homework webinar

Year 7 Parents (and new parents of 8 and 9) – Tuesday 29th September at 5:00pm

We are holding an online information session for all Year 7 parents/carers, and all new parents of Year 8 and 9 students on Tuesday 29th September at 5:00pm. 

The purpose of the evening will be to provide information about the curriculum, assessment and homework structures within our school. The event should last approximately 30 minutes.
