Greenshaw students perform in London and summer showcase

There will be an extravaganza of performing arts on Thursday 10th July.
My week started with the nicest email from a member of the public. She told me about how a Greenshaw student had given up her seat on the Tube to allow this adult to sit down. It’s always lovely to hear about our students representing the school so well, and following our behaviour expectations like ‘Show Respect’ and ‘Be Safe and Considerate’. Fortunately, we were able to identify the student in Year 10, but I know there are many others who behave similarly.
Greenshaw dancers perform in central London
On Tuesday 1st July, twenty students travelled to Sloane Square to perform at ‘Step Live’ in the prestigious venue Cadogan Hall. We were one of 26 lucky schools chosen to perform at this distinguished event celebrating young people supported by The Jack Petchey Foundation.
Schools performed in many different dance styles including commercial, contemporary and afro beats. Our students performed the piece 'Confident', a fusion of jazz and commercial dance styles. This was the debut performance of the whole piece, having performed snippets of the performance at Greenshaw's Christmas Performing Arts Showcase and the Step Into Dance Day of Dance at Trinity Laban. Students represented the school fantastically, conducting themselves professionally backstage and performing with style and confidence. Well done to all for a wonderful evening in a professional venue.
It’s time for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme expeditions
As the school week ends, the weekend activities are about to begin. I wish good luck to the nearly twenty students heading over to Reigate camping out and orienteering as part of the Silver award. I am delighted that cooler (but dry) weather has arrived for this weekend.
The following weekend we have about seventy students heading off for their Bronze award expedition. Off-site trips and activities like these often create some of the most memorable school experiences for students, so I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff members that are attending. Without these colleagues giving up their evenings and weekends, these activities would not be able to happen.
Greenshaw Summer Showcase, Thursday 10th July at 5.00pm
There will be an extravaganza of performing arts on Thursday 10th July. There will be dance, song, a range of instruments, drama and poetry performed live by our students. All Greenshaw families are invited to attend, with tickets available via the MCAS app. I look forward to seeing you there, and seeing and hearing our brilliant performers.
Year 8 HPV immunisations – attendance reminder
The Year 8 HPV immunisations will take place on Tuesday 8th July. Following the vaccination, we expect students to continue attending school as normal. While some may experience mild symptoms such as a sore arm or feeling a little tired, these are common and should not prevent attendance. Please note that absences due to low-level symptoms may be recorded as unauthorised.
