Student artwork displayed at the Houses of Parliament

Before half term, artwork created and submitted by Year 10 student Lottie was selected to be displayed at the Houses of Parliament as part of an event hosted by Speech and Language UK to celebrate DLD Day.

The event aimed to celebrate the voices and creativity of young people with DLD – Lottie's painting was one of the few chosen to be shown at the Houses of Parliament.

Lottie created a self-portrait titled 'Lottie's Hate List'. Around her portrait, she was inspired to write phrases that she hears every day at school that can feel overwhelming to her. Lottie's artwork sends a powerful message about how demanding and exhausting everyday language can be to young people with DLD. She attended this exclusive event with her Mum and is incredibly proud of herself – just as we are of her. Lottie accesses Speech and Language therapy twice a week as part of Greenshaw's resource provision.
