first full week in our brand-new buildings

The way that students have settled into the two new buildings so quickly has been phenomenal.

This has probably been the proudest week in my many years at Greenshaw. We have completed our first full week in our brand-new buildings. We have had several visitors during this week. All of them have said that they simply cannot believe that our students are learning in different buildings from where they've been the rest of the year.

I would absolutely agree. The way our students have responded – with maturity and absolute resilience – in settling into the two new buildings so quickly has been phenomenal.

Given that the sweltering temperatures this week might have also been another factor that disrupted learning, I am even more impressed. Having said that, because our new school is made up of temporary modular buildings, each classroom does have an air-conditioning unit… which has certainly made learning more pleasurable this week!

Clubs are up and running

PE clubs have started this week, and have been really popular. Thank you to the staff who have put these on, and well done to the many students who have attended.

All other clubs start from Tuesday next week. Sign-ups need to be done on Frog, so if you can take a moment this weekend to sit with your child and look at the options that are available, that would be great. Each staff member running a club has produced a short video explaining what it is about, so hopefully there will be something for everyone.

New gates/entry system

As I wrote on Monday, alongside the building work, we have also remodelled the gates and fence at the front of school.

School gates are now locked and parents will have to press the button to gain entrance.

Parents with appointments, or who are collecting students for appointments or from our first aid room, should press the button that goes through to the school office.

Late students will need to be dropped off at the main gate.

Well done to each of the students below for being nominated this week. I look forward to hearing about each of their achievements and the contributions that they have made to the school.

Wishing you all a very good weekend, and reminding you that Monday is a bank holiday, so next week starts on Tuesday 6th May. If students attend school on Monday, I am afraid that they will be very disappointed.
