Greenshaw High School

Specialist facilities allow us to make use of the latest technologies and resources. The newest of these are the facilities provided by recent building works. Along with a new suite of classrooms in the extension, these include a specialist food technology and art rooms and science laboratories. A superb all-weather pitch for use in PE classes and for numerous extra-curricular activities was provided in 2016. Other specialist facilities include excellent science laboratories, sports hall with an eight-lane climbing wall, gymnasium, a music centre, art studios, photographic dark room, a reading lounge, a recently refurbished spacious main hall and stage with excellent provision for lighting and sound and sixth form common room, coffee shop and study area. There are also specialist workshops for technology, a drama studio and several computer rooms.

The school has a well-equipped media resources centre housing reprographic facilities. A media editing suite with Apple Mac computers is available for use by staff and senior students.

A significant amount of computer hardware has been installed, including interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. The school has an extensive curriculum computer network of over 750 PCs for student use. The computers are used as a tool to help the teaching of all subjects. Students are encouraged to use the facilities both during lessons and out of lesson time. Clusters of laptops are available in several departments.

Internet facilities continue to be updated. Each computer on the curriculum network is connected to the internet. All students are given their own email address and account. All students have their own user area on the computer network and we are a lead school in the use of Frog, our managed learning environment, to support extended learning at home.
