Classics is a fusion of literature, art, drama, philosophy and history focused entirely on the Ancient Greek and Roman world. Learning about the classical world gives students the opportunity to discover fascinating and highly influential cultures.
Latin may not be a language spoken today, but it is worth studying in its own right and because it has had a huge impact on English, and on other European languages. Latin helps students to extend their vocabulary and gain a more sophisticated understanding of grammar.
The classics department organises a variety of trips to museums and the theatre. We also host annual trips abroad to either Greece or Pompeii.
Members of the classics team are Miss Daplyn, Mr M Narborough and Mr D Bell.
