Greenshaw High School

Greenshaw Swimming Gala

Red House wins the house trophy.

The Greenshaw swimming championships is one of the most memorable events of the school calendar. It is the first inter-house sporting event of the year, where our Year 7 and 8 house teams battle it out to become champions of the pool and take the coveted house trophy.

This year’s event, slightly later in the calendar year, was hosted by Morden Park swimming baths, which provided the perfect atmosphere for competitors and parents supporting.

Our students performed at exceptional levels across all of the events. Throughout the night the standard of swimming was remarkable, with many races being very close. Of particular note were the performances by Jack and Jadie in their medley, followed by impressive lengths of butterfly in their respective races. Sophie, in 7RC, and Rory, 8BI, left staff and spectators equally impressed in their individual events.

The breakdown of the night saw Blue House win Year 7 and Year 8 boys’ trophy with Red House taking the remaining trophies. Therefore championship winners of 2015 were Red House, who performed consistently well across a range of disciplines throughout the evening.

The noise was tremendous throughout and a huge thank you to all of the supporters who came to cheer on their family members and in some instances their old house team! There was a lot of enthusiasm and tension, which all added to the atmosphere of a wonderful event and almost raised the roof off Morden baths!
