Girls take home the Surrey Cup!

Our under 16 girls football team win the cup final.

The U16 girls football team, captained by Charlotte G, has had its most successful season to date. Their league run ended in straight wins conceding only two goals. The goal total across the games has been 65 with Charlotte W scoring 36 of these. The Sutton Cup was theirs for the taking this season, as they were current holders. Their run saw them beat Cheam, Nonsuch and eventually Glenthorne in the final with a 6-0 victory, ensuring that they retained their title for the second year in a row.

The team's next challenge was the Surrey Cup, as in previous years they had qualified for the semi final and the final in Year 7, where they lost on penalties. Their first game against St John the Baptist saw a 6-0 win and ensured they moved into the quarter finals against Weydon. They didn't have a full squad, but despite this beat them 5-0. Onto the semi final against Coloma, who knocked us out last year at the same stage. A solid win of 7-2 ensured the place in the final against current holders, Ursuline.

The girls played extremely well on the day and the score doesn't reflect the competition from Ursuline. Greenshaw came out as the winning team, with a score of 9-2, which saw them crowned as the best team in Surrey. Well done to all involved – as without their hard work and dedication we wouldn't have secured the treble this season.
