Greenshaw High School

Sutton SCITT Programme judged ‘outstanding’

Sutton’s Initial Teacher Training Programme for Primary and Secondary has been judged ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED.

Greenshaw High School school is part of Sutton SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training), training teachers, many of whom go on to work in Sutton secondary schools. We are now in our third year of operation and train teachers in primary, science, maths, English, modern foreign languages, geography, history, PE, music, drama and design and technology. Our training is having a significant impact on teacher recruitment in Sutton and helping to overcome the acute teacher shortage in the area.

The SCITT was recently judged by Ofsted to be outstanding in all four categories. Inspectors praised the SCITT’s “drive for excellence”, “its meticulous routine of review and evaluation and high standards” and the “exceptional levels of support provided for all trainees”

An open evening is being held at Glenthorne High School on Thursday 23rd November, starting at 5pm and finishing at 7pm. This open evening is for anyone who is interested in a career in teaching, both primary and secondary. It offers a great opportunity find out more about teaching and teacher training.
