Greenshaw High School

Map Your Future

Last week's Map Your Future day was a great success.

The first event of its kind, held in school on Wednesday 11th November, the Map Your Future event welcomed over fifty external professionals delivering a variety of workshops to students from Years 9 to 12.

Year 8 experienced around 30 different employers describing their roles in a speed careers activity in the gym.

A diverse range of opportunities on offer in school for students included sessions on apprenticeships, vocational courses and professions including law, medicine, architecture and engineering. All these activities enabled students to embark on further exploration into the world of work. In addition to the workshops that students opted into, the universities and further education fairs located in the two halls presented thousands of courses on offer after life at Greenshaw.

Mrs Sone, Future Pathways Co-ordinator, said: “I’m delighted that so many employers and other providers were available to deliver first-hand knowledge and expertise to motivate youngsters towards the next phase in their lives. We are looking forward to build on this to improve the quality of our destinations information even further in the future.”

Clearly a success, students can benefit from the information available on Frog by navigating to the Career Central portal, where there is a wealth of information available.
