Art Department
Welcome to the Greenshaw High School Art Department web page.
Art is delivered through the school by a dedicated team of specialists. The skills of each member of the department allow us to offer a broad and exciting curriculum from KS3 to KS5. We aim develop and nurture pupils' understanding and enjoyment of Art through carefully planned projects which support the development of artistic skills and processes. Teaching and Learning is a key focus of the department. The subject is very popular with a good uptake at GCSE and AS.
Beyond the classroom we aim to extend pupil's experiences of art through extra-curricular activities. Trips are offered which are targeted drawing days in galleries, where students can access the work of relevant artists and apply it to their own ideas. For example Year Eight are taken on an achievement trip to Hampton Court, Year Ten visit the Tate Modern to support their Man-Made World Coursework and AS/A2 students visit the British Museum and the Tate Modern.
In addition we offer after school Art Club which is well attended. As part of the extended day activities the Art Department ran a mosaic club with a visiting artist, where a mosaic was designed by students for the Expressive Arts Garden . We also run life-drawing classes for sixth form students.
The display of students work is very important to us. We hold an annual art show as well as displaying work around the school.
