Jack Petchey Awards

Greenshaw participates in the Jack Petchey awards scheme.

The scheme is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people, as well as receive additional funding. Award winners receive £200 from the Jack Petchey Foundation to be spent within school. They choose the area of school to which the funds are allocated. Winners are also presented with a certificate and badge at the annual awards ceremony.

Greenshaw students can nominate their peers, or students can be nominated by staff. Nominations can be made for a wide variety of reasons, which might include:

  • Fantastic attitude to learning.
  • Great social skills in terms of being a friend and looking out for others.
  • Significant sporting achievment in or out of school.
  • Major extra-curricular involvement in clubs or outside school.
  • Charity or voluntary work.

Nomination forms are distributed through tutor groups, three times a year. The school council makes the decision as to who will receive the monthly awards from the nominations which have been submitted.
