Geography

GCSE and A level Geography are popular choices at Greenshaw. Year upon year, many of our students have been inspired to continue studying geography at degree level in top universities with great success. Qualifications in geography are impressive to the higher education sector and are considered to be a strong component in job applications. We are a supportive and welcoming department with excellent, modern facilities and an exciting and current curriculum.

Students at Greenshaw study geography in Years 7 and 8, engaging with a range of physical and human geography themes.

At GCSE, students follow the AQA A GCSE Geography specification. They will develop their understanding through engaging with the schemes of learning across the course. There is also a three day residential trip to the Isle of Wight to collect data for a controlled assessment.

In the sixth form, students follow the AQA A Level Geography specification. They will develop their understanding through further engaging with the A level schemes of learning across the two year course. Field work includes a four day residential trip to a river in Monmouthshire, Wales, to collect data for their exam.

For more detailed course information, please see the curriculum guides. Downloads to help with classwork, extended work or coursework, can be found on Frog.

Mr A McMillan is Head of Geography. Other members of the team are Miss C Chisholm, Mr M Cowie and Miss N Younger.
