Greenshaw has been working with the local authority to find solutions to the shortage of secondary school places in Sutton.
The expansion of Greenshaw was carried out as part of a Borough-wide plan to expand a number of secondary schools across the Sutton area. This expansion was necessary to provide places for the increased numbers of students who will be starting secondary school in the coming years. The main part of Greenshaw’s expansion was ready to take two new forms of entry (60 students) in September 2016.
The work involved the construction of a three storey extension to the front (west facing) elevation of the school, as well the refurbishment and remodelling of existing corridors, staircases, rooms and communal areas within the main school building. Planning permission was granted by Sutton Council for the expansion on 3rd June 2015. You can see the approval letter here.
