£5.90 per hour (18 to 20 year olds), £7.38 (21 to 24 year olds) – actual salary will be determined on appointment
36 hours per week, term time + INSET days

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, a salary and the opportunity to train while you work in a successful and forward thinking science department?
We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Science Technician to assist the Science Technician Team Leader and other members of the science technician team in the provision of an effective support service to the teaching staff in the school laboratories. The successful applicant would initially assist the team with lesson preparation and delivery at Key Stage 3, but as training and personal development of skillsets progresses, we would expect the apprentice to move beyond Key Stage, 3 to Key Stage 4 and some Key Stage 5 activities.
This is a two year apprenticeship, offered in partnership with Kingston College. The successful candidate will spend four days at Greenshaw High School, and one day at Kingston College.
The successful candidate will be well-organised, adaptable, flexible and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn. The ability to use initiative and enterprise and to work independently and unsupervised after training is essential. A commitment and keen interest in Science in essential; A levels in at least one science subject would be desirable.

The science department at Greenshaw High School has 13 laboratories, four of which are newly commissioned, and five additional non-practical classrooms. Science is a popular A level choice across all three specialisms (biology, chemistry and physics) and the department is busy. We are able to offer a wide spectrum of experience in a school science environment to an apprentice.
The department is keen to promote career development and has a proven track record – previous members of the technician team have progressed to jobs in laboratories at Surrey University and University College London, or have taken senior roles in the science departments of other schools.
