Defining beauty

Students recently visited the latest exhibition at the British Museum.

Year 13 classicists explored the British Museum major exhibition 'Defining Beauty' – the body in Ancient Greek art.

The stunning range of sculptures reflects the artistic, mathematical and philosophical innovations and ideas of Ancient Greek culture. Stood high on plinths, with rich drapery and spotlights behind them, the figures reveal the exquisite beauty of the human form.

Mbuyo reported on how this visit will help him in the lead up to his Greek art exam in June:

"The aspect I enjoyed the most about the trip was the experience of seeing the art in person. It's one thing to see the pictures, but to see the real thing was not only amazing and inspiring, but will help me in my exam when I analyse and pick out points because now I have a three dimensional concept of the art I will be writing about."
