Greenshaw High School

The Company performs at Copper Box

Our very own dance troupe danced at the Olympic Park.

Greenshaw High School’s dance troupe, The Company, was chosen to represent the London Borough of Sutton at the London Youth Games Dance Competition for Key Stage 4.  Our students danced at the prestigious Copper Box Arena at the Olympic Park, Stratford on Friday 13th March.  They performed a non-narrative piece that explored space, time and relationships demonstrating the many different ways of developing movement material.  They were up against 12 schools from all over London including Bromley, Wandsworth and Enfield.  The judges featured Warren from Diversity alongside two other figures from the world of dance. They were judged in seven different criteria and scored highest for choreography and floor use.  The students were fantastic representatives of Greenshaw High School and secured third place in the inaugural dance competition.  The judges commented that the dancers created “really aesthetically beautiful shapes.”

Earlier this term, The Company also performed at the Stars of Tomorrow concert, in aid of the Children's Trust, Tadworth. The show included performances from many local dance schools and secondary schools in a variety of dance styles, including street dance and musical theatre.
