Greenshaw High School

Inter faith debate

Four Sutton schools unite for inter faith debate.

To mark Inter Faith Week, four schools from Sutton gathered for a morning of intellectual and spiritual challenge at Sutton Grammar School on Tuesday 18th November. 14 Year 10 students from Greenshaw immediately got stuck into composing questions in groups with representatives from schools around Sutton on Ethical, Philosophical and Religious matters. They were then able to put their questions to a panel of four local representatives of local faith groups, including the Vicar of St Helier and lay representatives from Muslim, Hindu and Jewish communities, in a Question Time style panel debate. With topics ranging from the right to die and the right to kill to the nature of religious experience, the panellists were put on the spot and rose to the challenge admirably, being informative and honest about their beliefs and feelings in a way that the students felt gave a better understanding of religious faith than they had before.
