Over the first two weekends in September, 54 of our Year 10 and 11 students completed their expedition section of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. They camped in the grounds of Polesden Lacey, a National Trust property near Dorking in Surrey, which was a glorious setting.

Their first day consisted of navigation training and, in their groups, the students undertook a demanding hike around Ranmore Common. The second day proved to be even more of a physical challenge, and the need to be adept with their map reading and compass skills was crucial. The students undertook a  tough nine mile hike across Denbies Hillside and the surrounding areas, hiking a stretch of the North Downs Way, where at one point, they climbed 125 metres.

Well done to all students for having completed this section of the award, and I look forward to seeing evidence of completion of the other sections in the next few weeks. Thank you to Mr Clarke, Ms Wilson and Mrs Clarke for their support over the weekends.​
