Greenshaw High School

Marking the centenary

Greenshaw begins it's remembrance of the centenary of the First World War

23rd October 2014

As part of their studies on the First World War, Year 8 students have created fantastic model trenches. The standard of entries this year is simply exceptional. The history department runs this competition every year and we are thrilled by the quality, creativity and historical accuracy of entries this year. Winners will be announced after the half term holiday when all trenches have been judged.

The trenches are a wonderful way to start our remembrance of the brave men and women who served on the Western Front. In addition, we are calling for all students in Year 8 (or any year group) who have a photograph of a relative or inspirational person, to bring in a copy for a display that will be in the main foyer, by the 11th of November.

All pictures of relatives or inspirational people from the First World War should be given to Miss Mole (in H4), clearly marked with the student's name.
