Greenshaw High School

Vote for Greenshaw!

We have secured funding for an amphitheatre at Greenshaw.

We have secured funding of at least £8,000 to build an outdoor learning space at school, through a fund that Tesco has raised from the 5p charge for carrier bags. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000.
Our project involves creating an outdoor learning space in the design of an amphitheatre to enable our students to maximise the land we have, and create a more welcoming and inviting outdoor space. It will seat at least 50 students and have a stage space for lectures, performances and outdoor learning.

If we receive the maximum funding available, the additional money will be spent trying to make the structure more weather resistant so that it can be used throughout the year. Shoppers at Tesco Extra in Sutton will be able to vote from 31st October until 13th November on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards. Clearly, I wouldn’t want to go against other worthwhile causes, but I would be delighted if your vote did support the Greenshaw scheme.

Tesco's Bags of Help scheme

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork on its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 416 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 31st October to 13th November on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards. In total, there is over £12.5 million up for grabs.
