Greenshaw High School

Encouraging women into engineering

Sixth form scientists visited Subsea 7 last week.

A group of prospective future female engineers from Greenshaw Sixth Form were invited to visit Subsea 7, a seabed-to-surface engineering organisation.

Our Year 12 science students benefited from talks given by female engineers which helped to highlight life as an engineer and offer guidance on the various routes into the profession. The students also enjoyed an engineering task based on the work of Subsea 7, which was developed to encourage team building, lateral thinking and engineering skills.

Their day was finished with a visit to the new Subsea 7 office development, currently under construction, where the students were able to learn about and gain an understanding of the complexities of civil engineering.
