Code of Conduct
Greenshaw Sixth Form aims to provide a safe and secure learning environment where all students are challenged to achieve their best. The Code of Conduct is designed to support this key aim. We aim to create a culture where rules do not have to be imposed with a heavy hand, but where students accept that they have a part to play in the development of a environment conducive to learning and behave accordingly.
We have five core expectations:
It is expected that, as a student of Greenshaw Sixth Form, you will:
- Act as an aspirational role models for younger students, representing yourself and the Sixth Form in the best possible light.
- Attend school fully and punctually, except where illness and/or legitimate commitments prevent you from doing so.
- Approach your learning in a committed and diligent manner, making the best of the learning opportunities that are presented to you.
- Play your part in the creation of a learning and social environment that is safe, secure and focused on achievement.
- Manage your relationships with staff and fellow students in a mature manner and without recourse to behaviour that may be considered offensive and/or intimidating.
Full details of the Code of Conduct and our disciplinary procedure can be viewed by clicking on the downloads on the right hand side.
Outside school
It is beyond the scope of our responsibility to tell students what they can or can’t do outside school. We do, however, emphasise two things. Firstly, part-time jobs are fine, but they can easily become a student’s first priority to the detriment of their learning. We ask that students exercise common sense in this regard and do not take on too many hours, reducing their commitment a far as possible around exam times.
More positively, both universities and employers look very carefully at individuals’ curriculum vitae and are influenced by participation in worthwhile activities outside school. We encourage and, where possible, facilitate involvement in such activities.
