Student Council
The Sixth Form Council is an entirely student led group, chaired by an elected member of Year 13. Traditionally the Council focuses on two key areas: the leavers’ prom and charitable fund raising. They also meet with the Headteacher on an ad hoc basis, as the need arises.
The charity committee are a real source of pride for the school. High profile support of breast cancer awareness through ‘pink days’, and a range of fancy dress days (including the wearing of pyjamas, or sportswear) to raise funds have shown that Greenshaw’s Sixth Form consider the situation of others as much as their own.
The leavers’ prom is a fantastic event, celebrating the end of Year 13 students’ time at Greenshaw. Recent venues have included the Fairfield Hotel but the move to Epsom Downs racecourse with a three course meal has seen a real increase in style. The Sixth Form Council also co-ordinate the publication of the yearbook, and some years really go the extra mile and organise sweat shirts and other memorabilia. All elements of this are organised by the students.
