Course Information
The majority of our students follow a course comprising four AS subjects. These subjects are chosen from the wide range on offer, the details of which are set out in the Course Information booklet. Some of the subjects on offer will be familiar from GCSE and some, Psychology and Law for example, will be new. Additionally, all AS level students follow a Certificate in Personal Effectiveness course, the aim of which is to develop core abilities and recognise generic attributes, such as presentational skills. At the end of Year 12, students take their AS exams, and then continue into year 13 where most students follow three A2 subjects.
We also offer a Level 2 course in Vocational ICT. Students taking this course are also offered the opportunity to retake Mathematics and English GCSE. A number of students follow this course for a year and then progress to the AS/A2 course the following year.
In addition to the subject based curriculum, all students following the AS course in year 12 undertake a Certificate in Personal Effectiveness course (COPE). This course helps students to develop their generic skill set and recognises their experiences and achievements outside school. We also offer ‘entitlement’ courses in Counselling, Sports Leadership and Oracle databases to students on the AS course. Follow the links below for details of all courses
