Science

Welcome to the Greenshaw High School Science Department.

All pupils in this school study Science from Years 7 through to Year 11. In Years 7 to 9, students follow schemes of work which enable their scientific skills to develop during the three years.

At Key Stage 4, all students follow OCR 21st Century Science which is made up of the following qualifications:

Core Science (compulsory unless doing Triple Science)

Additional Science (optional)

Applied Science (optional)

Triple Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)

In all years, students have the opportunity to learn through a variety of methods, whether this be class presentations, practical experiments or class discussions. All classrooms are equipped with either interactive whiteboards or slates. At post 16 students can choose to follow either A level Biology, A level Chemistry or A level Physics.

Mr Mirtschin is Head of Science, Miss Hemming is Head of Biology, Miss Ioannides is Head of Chemistry and Mr Cole is Head of Physics. Other members of the team are: Mr Clarke, Mr Dawkins, Mr Dowie, Mrs Forno, Miss Edwick, Dr Hirst, Mrs McBeath, Miss Jacobs, Miss La Roe, Mrs Pope and Mr W Smith. Our Curriculum Support Officer is Mrs Hillman-Hume.
