Attendance & Punctuality
The school day begins with morning registration for all Y12 students at 8.30 am. There is an expectation that all students will be here at this time and registered with their tutors. Students who are persistently late to or who fail to attend morning registration may face disciplinary action. There is no morning registration for Y13 students and neither Y12 nor Y13 student are required to register in the afternoon.
We generally operate a 5 X 1hr period day, with school finishing at 3.00 pm. Some students may find that they have a period 6 lesson, ie a teaching slot from 3.00 to 4.00 pm.
Full and punctual attendance at lessons is an expectation we have of all students. Students who are persistently late to class or who absent themselves without good reason, will be jeopardising their place in the Sixth Form.
If there is a legitimate reason for a student’s absence, we ask that parents provide a note to this effect. Absences may be legitimated in three ways: through a phone call to the school office (020 8715 1001); through a letter to be handed to your son/daughter’s tutor or by e-mail, to nhouse@suttonlea.org.
Non-contact periods:
Students will have on their timetables periods that are classified as Free, ie non-contact periods. We expect that students will use this time for private study and that any non-contact periods in the morning will be spent on the school site. Should a student have a non-contact period in the afternoon, they are free to go home.
